Whitetail Deer Hunting in Spink County, South Dakota
Double J Hunts offers Archery Whitetail Deer Hunts, giving hunters many
exceptional opportunities to bag trophy deer.
The season usually runs from the end of September through December, with the peak of rut
from the end of October through mid-November. South Dakota residents obtain licenses
through a lottery draw, but non-residents are assured of a license when
they apply. [ SD Game, Fish and Parks ] Our hunting location, which is second to none, is in the
James River Valley of Spink County in eastern South Dakota, with its myriad of river
bottom foliage and ample deer population.
Double J Hunts, of Double J Cattle Co., sits right in the middle of the
Jim River Valley and boasts of some of the best prime white tail hunting
and numbers of white tail deer that you will see anywhere in Eastern
South Dakota. The hunting pressure from north and south of our location
forces the whitetail numbers to channel through our area. Just sit back,
be patient, and pick out your favorite, from the many deer that you see.
Our hunters rouse early to an invigorating morning hunt, depending upon
the rut, and enjoy a blissful evening hunt while taking in one of our
breathtaking sunsets. Hunters use tree stands and ground blinds in strategically placed locations around bedding and feeding areas and water sources.
